pretty little pins

5 03 2011

Receiving a swap package is always Fun Mail. It’s interesting to see how friends and other crafty strangers have interpreted the project, what materials they’ve chosen, etc. There’s also that teensy bit of apprehension, when you wonder, Eeesh, will I like it? Will our tastes be similar enough??

brooch exchange - received

And somehow, it always works out. These are the awesome brooches (and a sweet magnet from the swap host) I received from the Be Embellished Brooch Exchange, hosted by Regina of Creative Kismet.

Starting clockwise from the top:
Owl Brooch by Claas Creations : not only looks completely adorable on Bebe’s new sweater, it also inspires him to show off his hooty owl noises.

giant crocheted Flower Brooch by fait pour vous : pinned it onto my favorite straw hat, ready to swan around field and town when the warmer days of spring finally arrive.

wee embellished Flower Magnet by swap host Regina : hard to tell from the picture, but the center of the flower is made from layers of teensy origami papers. Gorgeous and fiddly work! Already on the fridge.

Felt Flower Brooch by Liana : it fluffs up into this pooffy little dome, and it looks perfect with the Cloud Bolero that I’m working on.

Felt Heart Brooch by Tammy : soft and sweet, it arrived with a sweet little watercolor notecard by a local artist.

Flower Button Feather Brooch (center) by Christy : as soon as I opened the swap package, with an excited Bebe hovering at my side, he said, “OH! Pretty flower! I want it, please!” So, that is Bebe’s flower.

Thank you for sharing your creative loveliness, and big thanks to Regina for organizing a great swap.
