I knit but learning to crochet is on my list too. A garland sounds adorable. Good work!

I’m finding that this is a great way to learn some of the basic stitches! It’s a small project, so it’s easy to rip back when I make mistakes, but it’s so simple and pretty. Or at least, I hope it will be pretty – we’ll see πŸ™‚

One of my ‘learn to knit’ books has a ‘learn to crochet’ section, so I have been relying heavily on that as I muddle through this project. It’s pretty quick to finish each heart, though, and that is so satisfying.

Oh my, the crocheting is still very wonky, but thank you very much for the compliment. It is encouraging!

It took me years to decide I had time to learn to knit/crochet. YEARS – and my best friends still laugh because I was so adamant about it Not Being My Thing. And now I am obsessed πŸ™‚ So watch out, it is an addicting hobby, in the best way.

Oh dear, they are not quite coming out the same size, but at least it is fun.

I learnt a bit 7 years ago, just single stitches and only with constant help from my friend. And nothing since then, eek!

Thanks for the comment! I’ve failed a few times now at teaching myself to crochet, but these little hearts make me want to give it another go!

They are sooo inspiring – I originally saw the project on Ginny’s Small Things blog and immediately went in search of the pattern πŸ™‚

i am on a crochet blanket at the moment (slow motion mode:-)) and it is really fun! crocheting has such a different energy as knitting has.
you have beautiful knitting here in your blog!

Thank you πŸ™‚ I love seeing crocheted blankets, the stitchwork seems so much more intricate than knitting.

Lovely, sweet little heart! I have a hot air balloon Christmas ornament, crocheted around a light bulb that I made with crochet replicating a photo… crochet can do so many things!
