raucous light

Overcast

morning tea

Late winter,
morning light takes new paths
on a bedroom wall,
shifts around the hours
of dreaming, of waking.

Outside,
the world is still between mud and melting snow,
dead browns and sleeping greys
with the trees’ buds beginning to swell
and the impression is: unfinished.

Today
birds pause to rest their wings –
house finches, fat wrens, mourning doves, cardinals –
feathers fluffed fat against the cold,
bright black eyes dreaming of worms, seeds, nests.

My heart
grows restless in this pale, clouded time;
feels the draw of rising sap;
dreams of a warm wind in a bit of sky
and sings

of impatience and of raucous light.

so so beautiful, words and images. captures my own feelings today, too, though your light is more beautiful than mine, today.

Such beautiful words and photo. It captures the moment perfectly. Here’s to many more light filled days. Take care.
