Recap 3: late August adventures

3 09 2009

We are loving Saturday (and Sunday) mornings as a family.

The boys get up early and tiptoe away to get the newspaper and bring me back a couple of donuts & coffee.

We’re still getting used to the novelty that we now have free time on the weekends. Together. In ten years, I don’t think we’ve ever had weekends off together. We’re reveling in it for now, whether it’s visiting friends or exploring.

Shenandoah National Park is a reasonably close drive, and it has also joined our Favorite Places list. Annual pass? Done. Appalachian Trail? Begun. Picnics?

Light Picnic Menu (serves 2)
Boiled Eggs (2)
Giant Farm Peaches (2)
Caprese Salad (yumm)
Dill Potato Salad (double yumm)
Yogurt (tricky to do in warm weather)

Yo sista

You need those freezer packs! But I digress, picnics are FABULOUS! Just wait for theose days when its rainy outside and you deck out your whole living room to make the perfectly fun indoor rainy day picnics… I’m a fan!

Most definitely needed to use the freezer packs. Warm yogurt is not so yummy. Bleh…
